Early Completion
Policies and Procedures
Early completion can be earned by students in their senior year who have completed all graduation requirements by the end
of the first semester of the Senior year. Students who earn this distinction will have fulfilled their academic and attendance
requirements, and will not attend high school during the second semester.
Eligibility requirements for Early Completion:
1. A minimum of 90% attendance for grades 911.
2. All Ohio Graduation Tests passed.
3. A minimum of eighteen (18) credits earned by the end of grade 11.
4. No academic deficiencies at the end of grade 11 and at the end of the first semester of grade 12.
5. Second semester Senior requirement of onehalf
(1/2) credit of English 12 must be fulfilled through
Correspondence Course (at student’s expense) by the last day of first semester of grade 12.
6. Parent’s signature on Early Completion contract is required.
Additional policies for Early Completion:
1. Students participating in the program will NOT be eligible for participation in any extracurricular activities during
second semester of grade 12.
2. Diplomas will be awarded at the Paulding High School Commencement Exercises at the end of the school year.
Early completion students are encouraged to participate in Commencement Exercises.
3. Students participating in the program are not to be on school property during the school day second semester.
Check in at the office and sign in as a visitor if you have school business.
4. Early completion students will be notified of all Senior meetings and activities, and are encouraged to attend.
5. Participants in the program are invited to attend PHS dances and the Prom. They may also attend any school
event as a spectator.
6. A letter from the principal may be provided upon request for employers or college admissions, verifying that the
Early Completion requirements have been fullfilled,
and that the student will receive his/her diploma at the end
of the school year.
Who should consider working toward Early Completion?
Students who are considering:
1. Entering the workforce
2. Entering the military
3. Entering a technical college
4. Students have employment, or prospective employment, which may provide a career track
Who should NOT consider working toward Early Completion?
Students who are:
1. Planning to attend a fouryear
college or university
2. Taking a collegeprep
curriculum (foreign languages, AP courses, upper level science and math courses, etc.)
3. Planning to participate in extracurricular activities during second semester
4. Planning to continue taking Band and/or Choir
