Doug Bair

Doug Bair, a 1967 graduate of Oakwood High School, was a four year letterman in baseball and graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1971, where he earned two varsity letters in baseball. While at BG, he pitched a no-hitter as a junior; the first in 13 years in the MAC, and was selected to the conference first team his senior year.
He was selected in the second round of the 1971 baseball draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates and stayed in professional baseball through 1992, playing for Oakland, Cincinnati, St. Louis, Detroit, Philadelphia, and Toronto.
His most memorable season was with the Reds in 1978 when he had 28 saves and an ERA of 1.98. At one point with the Reds, over a three year period of time, Bair was the third most used pitcher in the national league. He also played on two World Championship teams:
St. Louis in 1982, and Detroit in 1984. He is currently working for Guardian Savings in Cincinnati and is the head baseball coach at Wilmington College.
