As I enter my fifth year here, I continue to be so excited to be a part of the Oakwood Elementary School team! The staff, parents, and Oakwood community have a sincere desire to create the best educational experience possible for the children who enter our doors each day. I am very proud to be able to tell you that Oakwood Elementary has been rated “EXCELLENT WITH DISTINCTION” by the state of Ohio for our academic achievements during the 2010-2011 year! We met ten out of ten indicators, had a performance index of 101.4, met AYP, and had above average growth in the value-added category. I have high expectations for the students at Oakwood Elementary; and with a knowledgeable and caring staff, interested and involved parents, and a supportive community guiding the learning process, we will continue to make positive gains in children’s education. I remain firmly committed to helping our students meet academic challenges, develop positive character traits and leadership skills, and become upstanding citizens. They will be prepared to be effective, productive citizens in a rapidly changing world; and it is fulfilling to watch the process begin right here at Oakwood Elementary
